Leena Manimekalai is in news recently after the release of the poster of her upcoming documentary “Kaali”. A police complaint has been made against her on Monday, 4th July 2022 by a Delhi-based lawyer.
The poster was shared by Leena herself on her Twitter account on Saturday, 2nd July 2022. The lawyer has asked to ban the poster as well as a clip from the documentary.
The poster depicts a woman dressed up as goddess Kaali who is seen smoking a cigarette. The people have been calling it “highly objectionable” and hence have demanded the director’s arrest for hurting their religious beliefs.
The police have termed the incident an offense and have assured to take penal action against Leena. While, on her Twitter account, Leena has made it clear that her documentary is about Goddess Kaali being in Toronto.
