A 22-year-old student of Vedic studies, Mohit Pandey, has been chosen to be one of the 29 priests who will perform puja at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, which is set to open in January. The selection process was rigorous, involving interviews with around 3,000 applicants from across India. Pandey is currently undergoing a six-month training program before his appointment.
How Much is Mohit Pandey Ram Mandir Salary?
Mohit comes from a humble background, with his father working as a farmer and his mother as a homemaker. While there is not much information available about his personal life, it is known that he earns a monthly salary of ₹33,000. This financial support likely enables him to pursue his education while also remaining dedicated to his studies and religious service.
The Shri Ram Mandir Teerth Kshetra Trust has recently increased the salaries of their priests. Reports suggest that the chief priest now receives a salary of Rs 33,000, while his assistant priests receive a salary of Rs 31000. This salary increase comes after the Trust had initially decided to raise the salaries in May, with the chief priest receiving Rs 25,000 and assistant priests receiving Rs 20,000. Before the increase, the chief priest received a nominal salary of only Rs 15520, and assistant priests received a nominal salary of Rs 8940.
The construction work of the Ram temple is nearing completion, and preparations are underway for its consecration. Invitation letters are being sent to notable individuals, including Prime Minister Modi, for the event on January 22. The temple is being built grandly, and the Ramlala Grand Temple will be the event’s centerpiece.
Mohit Pandey Age, Biography, and Qualifications
Mohit Pandey was born in 2001 in Belhaura, Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh and he is currently 23 years old as of 2024. He belongs to a Brahmin family and has been interested in religion and spirituality since his childhood. Mohit has been fascinated by religion and rituals since he was young. He started his education by studying the Samaveda, one of the four Vedas, which contains hymns and chants for various occasions. Later, he pursued his higher education at Venkateswara Vedic University in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, where he received an Acharya degree, which is equivalent to a master’s degree. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Vedic studies at the same university.

Mohit Pandey is the son of Shri Ram Prasad Pandey, who works as a priest and teacher at Dudheshwar Ved Vidyapeeth. His mother, Smt. Sushila Pandey is a homemaker who practices Hinduism. Mohit has two younger brothers, Ravi and Raju, who are both students at Dudheshwar Ved Vidyapeeth. Despite being unmarried, Mohit’s primary objective is to serve Lord Ram and the devotees at the Ayodhya Ram Temple.
The Ayodhya Ram Mandir Priest
In 2023, Mohit registered as a priest for employment in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir along with 3,000 other priests. Only 200 candidates were selected for the interview based on their merit, which took place in Karsevak Puram, a facility of the Vishva Hindu Parishad in Ayodhya. A three-member panel consisting of a Hindu preacher from Vrindavan named Jaykant Mishra and two mahants from Ayodhya named Satyanarayan Das and Nandini Sharan chose only 20 priests from the 200. Mohit successfully passed all the rounds and was selected as a priest for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Later, he completed a six-month training program before beginning his work at the temple. The temple is scheduled to open on January 22, 2024.
Mohit, who was recently appointed as one of the priests in a temple, had some personal photos of him circulating on social media. However, the Ayodhya Police investigated the matter and found out that the photo in question was a deepfake image created using AI. As a result, the police detained Hitendra Pithadiya, a Congress politician from Gujarat, for sharing the doctored images.
