    Motor and battery

    The wattage of the electric motor plays a significant role in determining how fast an e-bike can go. Higher-wattage motors provide more power, enabling faster acceleration and higher top speeds.

    The capacity of the battery pack affects the range and performance of an electric bicycle. A larger battery can provide more energy to the motor, allowing for longer rides at higher speeds.

    Roads

    The terrain you’re riding on can impact the speed of your e-bike. Flat, smooth surfaces allow for faster speeds, while uphill climbs may require more effort from the motor and result in slower speeds.

    Most electric bicycles offer different levels of pedal assist, allowing riders to adjust the amount of motor assistance. By pedaling harder, riders can increase their speed, especially when combined with the motor’s aid.

    Class 2 e-bikes are equipped with a throttle in addition to a pedal assist and have a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph (32 km/h). You can choose to pedal or use the throttle to propel the bike. Like Class 1 e-bikes, they can be ridden on bike paths and trails.

    Class 2

    You can find them with more powerful motors and larger batteries compared to Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes.
