When Martinez met West Side Harlem drug dealer Azie Faison at age 13, he began selling drugs in the East Harlem neighborhood of New York City. From there, Martinez moved up the chain of Harlem drug dealers and eventually became one of the largest drug dealers in the city. Martinez was detained in Washington, D.C., on November 7, 1991, for cocaine sales. He was accused of 14 counts of murder, including the killing of D.C. drug dealer Michael Anthony Salters, also known as Fray, as well as 14 counts of a murder conspiracy.
